The Kiehlufer development provides accommodation for up to 240 people. Seventy-nine furnished studio apartments of around 30–33 m² offer housing for homeless women and families. The project combines a substantial accommodation capacity with the scale of individual apartments, providing residents with their own private living space. Load-bearing masonry walls and reinforced concrete floors form the structural system, while three staircases provide access to the apartments. Prefabricated bathroom pods were manufactured off site and installed within the building, combining a conventional structural approach with industrially produced fit-out elements. The role at Thoma Architekten was construction supervision in HOAI stage 8.
