The competition proposal explores the reorganisation of Bolzano’s station district, between the historic centre and the residential, industrial and commercial areas to the south. The site of around 35 hectares includes the passenger and freight stations and parts of the north-south railway tracks. Its redevelopment is considered in relation to the wider city. Transport, the distribution of uses and the urban structure are examined together. Public green space and new housing introduce additional urban uses into an area shaped largely by railway infrastructure. The role at Studio Cecchetto & Associati included the design concept, drawings, visualisations and model-making for the second competition stage.
