At the Malamocco lagoon inlet, the project forms part of the MOSE infrastructure for Venice’s flood protection. It combines operational facilities with footpaths, artificial dunes, timber decks and parkland. Technical requirements and the design of the lagoon landscape are considered together. The central operations building draws on the language of maritime signage: red and green, used to guide incoming vessels, become defining architectural elements. The landscape design connects the building to the paths and wider interventions across the site. The contribution during an internship at Studio Cecchetto & Associati covered preliminary design and visualisation at the Italian Progetto preliminare stage.
