The proposal for Ospedale al Mare on Venice’s Lido retains the structure of the former hospital ensemble. Existing buildings and pedestrian routes are complemented by freestanding volumes whose scale and grain respond to the historic fabric. The redevelopment builds on the site’s established spatial organisation. A hotel, housing, shops and services form a mixed-use neighbourhood within a generous, continuous pedestrian realm. The routes connect old and new buildings, bringing the different uses together as parts of a shared ensemble. The contribution during an internship at Studio Cecchetto & Associati covered design development at the Italian Progetto definitivo stage.
